Koopman returns to La Crosse County government as associate administrator

The chief operating officer for the YMCA in La Crosse has been hired for a high-ranking post with La Crosse County.

Sara Koopman was chosen from a nationwide search to become the county’s next associate administrator, overseeing 27 departments in county government. Koopman succeeds Jane Klekamp in that post, now that Klekamp moved up to the county administrator position in January.

Before working for the Y, Koopman served for eight years in the county finance office as the deputy finance director, from 2007 to 2015.

She also has worked with the Hawkins Ash CPA firm.

Brad Williams

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
