Decorah man found guilty of killing his stepfather
A murder trial in northeast Iowa has ended with a guilty verdict.
Aaron Whittle of Decorah has been convicted of a reduced charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of his stepfather, Larry Whittle. Aaron had been accused of first-degree murder, leading up to the two-week-long trial.
The shooting reportedly occurred on St. Patrick’s Day of 2022 at Aaron’s home. Larry was later reported missing, and his car was found abandoned at a park.
The jury in Winneshiek County reached its verdict on Thursday.
Aaron Whittle could get 20 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced, probably in late April or early May.
