La Crosse School Board candidate Deb Suchla joined WIZM’s La Crosse Talk PM on Thursday to discuss her past experience on the board, as well as past, present and future referendums, student population decline and student needs.

La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

We discussed the past $194.7 million new high school plan, the current $60 million operating budget referendum.

We also talked about the old middle schools, as the school board already voted to close Lincoln. Suchla brought up student population decline and what that means for the district.

In there as well, we brought up teacher pay and mental health — as students have been bringing that up voluntarily at board meetings. She also gave her thoughts on how to approach other students needs.

There are four open seats up for a vote with eight candidates running for La Crosse School Board. Here are the past interviews with them on La Crosse Talk PM:

  • Tim Alberts (here)
  • Kathi Blanchard (here)
  • Jerry Wacek (here)
  • Jeff Jackson (here)
  • Scott Neumeister (here)
  • Trevor Sprague (here)

When will we hear from the other candidates? There are lots of new faces, and I for one would like to hear from them
