UW-L athletics competing all over place Saturday, including NCAA National Championships

A huge day Saturday in the sports world for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

First, the football team opens the Division 3 playoffs for the second-consecutive year.

The Eagles (9-1) — ranked seventh in the nation by D3football.com — are on the road in the first round against 12th-ranked and undefeated Wartburg (10-).

UW-L is on the road because it did not win conference outright — tying with UW-Whitewater — while Wartburg won its conference outright.

The game that can be heard on the WKTY App, online here, or WKTY radio beginning at 11:45 a.m. Tune in on 96.7 FM / 580 AM.

Meanwhile, three other UW-L teams are competing in the postseason. Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams are in the National Championships.

The men are ranked eighth (preview here), while the women are ranked 11th (preview here). The meet begins at 10 a.m. in Lansing Michigan.

Lastly, the 13th-ranked UW-L women’s soccer team is a win away from the elite eight in the NCAA tournament (preview here).

The Eagles (21-1-1) are in the midst of an 18-game unbeaten streak, playing at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against unraked Virginia Wesleyan (17-2-3).
