Look no further: All things spooky in the La Crosse area

There are lots of tricks and treats coming to the La Crosse area over the next two weekends.

This Friday, the third annual Haunted Mile at Pettibone Park is being put on by the La Crosse Parks and Rec. Department.

What started off as a drive through event during the pandemic, transformed into a walk through trail. While traffic that first year was backed up for miles, last year there was plenty of parking for those attending.

There will be games, s’mores, and a bounce house. Costumes are encouraged.


WHAT: Haunted Mile
WHEN: Friday Oct. 21st, 5-8 p.m.
WHERE: Pettibone Park
COST: Free


On Saturday the 22nd Riverside Park will transform into the Enchanted Forest. This is a non-scary trick-or-treat event for the whole family.

Kids and parents can dress up and walk through the park, collecting candy as they go. There will also be games and activities for the kids.

WHEN: Saturday Oct. 22nd, 10 a.m-2 p.m.
WHERE: Riverside Park
COST: $7 for youth, $4 for adults, or $25 for a family pass (3 youth and 2 adults) Children 3 and under are free


Meanwhile, in Onalaska, The Jaycees Haunted House returns for its 42nd season.

This year, the theme is “superstitions” and while the opening night was last week, there is still two more weekends of scares. Tickets go on sale at 6:30 p.m and doors open at 7.


WHAT: Jaycees Haunted House
WHEN: Thursday Oct. 20th and 27th from 6:30-9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday Oct. 21st, 22nd, 28th, and 29th from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
WHERE: 760 Green Coulee Rd. Onalaska
COST: Thursdays are $5, Fridays and Saturdays $10. $2 off admission by bringing two non-perishable food donations


On the other side of the river, La Crescent’s Bauer’s Market and Garden Center is getting turned into a haunted house for the next two weekends.

For those looking for a little less scare, an all abilities scare will take place on Saturday Oct. 22nd from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and a family day will also take place during the same time on Saturday, Oct. 29th. There will be games, face painting, and a costume contest.
