Record-breaking funds raised for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals at Gundersen during Mid-West Family Radiothon

Twenty four hours of live broadcasts sharing stories from CMN families and health care workers brought much needed funds that will stay local.

Over the course of two days this week, listeners on Mid-West Family stations Z93, KQ98 and 95.7 the Rock heard from local children and families helped by Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals.

The 24-hours of live broadcasts from the lobby of Gundersen Health System in La Crosse encouraged our community to call, text or click to donate to support their cause.

The Coulee Region came through again this year, raising $95,000 and counting!

Donations came from local residents — and even from across the country — as phone bank workers contacted friends and family to solicit donations to add to those contacting the Radiothon.

Donations can still be made online to support the CMM Radiothon HERE.

The Children’s Miracle Network serves 25 counties in the tri-state area and 100 percent of the funds raised stay local. CMN helps families regardless of where they receive healthcare.

The organization assists with patient grants, hospital and clinic services, adaptive equipment, and pediatric programs in addition to their family support of travel, meals, and lodging.

Beth Noffsinger, CMN Hospitals Specialist at Gundersen, said the donations will also be used for music therapy, camps, horse therapy and “things like adaptive equipment to help kids and their families have a little bit of peace of mind while they’re navigating life and some of their medical needs that have popped up.”

Since 1986, more than $20 Million has been raised to help children at our local CMN at Gundersen.

How does Noffsinger feel about this year’s fundraiser?

“It’s just been overwhelming to see the amount of support we’ve had this year,” Noffsinger said. “We’re so grateful that so many people care about kids and care about families and want to help ease the trauma, the pain, that so many families are going through when they have a child who’s having a health care need. So we’re just so grateful for the continued support from our community.”

Noffsinger can’t wait for next year’s Radiothon, either.

“We’ve already been talking about ideas to have an another amazing year,” Noffsinger said. “It’s been phenomenal to be a part of the team this year that’s put this together. We have a great team at Gundersen, we have so many wonderful health care team members across the health system who just want to help make kids better and I’m very proud to be a part of that team.”

So are we. On behalf of all of us at Mid-West Family, thank you to those that have donated, and to those that will donate now online. We’re grateful for the volunteers that donated their time, and the staffs at Gundersen, CMN, and MWF who worked so hard for months to make this event possible.
