La Crosse School Board accepting applications for vacant position

The La Crosse School Board is now accepting applications to temporarily fill the open board position left by Rob Abraham, who resigned, effective immediately, at the board meeting on Aug. 1.

Applicants have until the end of the month to submit their resume and a letter of interest to Superintendent Dr. Aaron Engle. The board will then narrow the selection down to four candidates at its Sept. 12 meeting.

According to School Board President Dr. Juan Jimenez, this is an opportunity for individuals who are passionate about public education to get involved with government at a local level.

“School board positions, like other locally elected positions, are critical because the individuals who are elected will make decisions that impact our community more closely than any other level of government,” Jimenez said. ”People who are committed to supporting public education on a broad range of issues, or are willing to learn about the range of issues that impact our educational environment, would find this position a unique and thrilling opportunity.”

Whoever is chosen for the position will only do so until April of 2023, when Abraham’s term would have expired.
