One area school district is looking for a new superintendent, after its leader for the last five years resigned in the wake of intimidation and harassment charges.

Sparta superintendent Dr. Amy Van Deuren submitted her resignation on Wednesday, several days after the release of a report on her alleged behavior toward district employees.

The investigation looked into the claims of school workers that they were fearful of Van Deuren and felt threatened by her actions, which they say included entering offices without knocking and using physical gestures and profanity during meetings.

The district says no unlawful harassment was found. The Sparta school board is expected to vote soon on the resignation. Its next scheduled meeting is July 26th.
