As I See It

Are you ready for the next election?

Are you ready for the upcoming election? The spring election is April 5, now less than two weeks away. It isn’t big as elections go. For voters in La Crosse there isn’t a lot on the ballot. There is a race for a seat on the Court of Appeals, but there is just one candidate running. Same for La Crosse municipal judge. There are races for La Crosse County Board, although many candidates are unopposed. And there is a six-person race for three seats on the La Crosse School Board. But still, elections are important, and should be treated as such. If you haven’t registered to vote, there is still time. And the early voting period, proving increasingly popular, officially began yesterday. The rules are different for absentee ballots in this election because of a recent court ruling, so keep in mind ballots can only be returned by the voter either in the mail or in-person at your clerk’s office. If you aren’t familiar with the candidates and their stances on the issues, there are plenty of resources available, including the website www.vote411.org, and the Wisconsin Voter Helpline which can answer all your election related questions. Finally, make plans to vote on Tuesday, April 5. We’ll see you at the polls!
