A rough shooting night for La Crosse native Johnny Davis, but it didn’t seem to matter.

His 13th-ranked University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team pulled out a 78-68 win over No. 16 Ohio State at the Kohl Center on Thursday.

Davis was just 4 of 18 from the field and 1-for-5 from beyond the arc, scoring 14 points for the Badgers (14-2, 5-1). It’s the first time all season he hasn’t scored 15 or more. Davis, who added nine rebounds, two assists and a steal, is 2-for-12 from beyond the arc in his last two games.

While Wisconsin lost by 18 a month ago to OSU (10-4, 4-2), with only two scoring in double-figures in that one, this time it wasn’t all on Davis and Brad Davison.

Davison scored 25, hitting 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, while Tyler Wahl went 8-for-10 from the field in scoring 20.

The Badgers withstood a 50%-shooting night from the Buckeyes, who were just 3-for-19 from deep.

Wisconsin had 16 assists on 27-for-58 (46.6%) shooting. OSU had just seven assists on 30-for-60 shooting.
