Two people had to be extricated from a 2001 Chevy Silverado, and taken by ambulance to the hospital, after a head-on collision with a full-size SUV in Vernon County.

A 57-year-old Coon Valley woman, driving a 2019 Chevy Traverse, was headed west on Highway 14 around 1 p.m. Thursday, when her vehicle slipped off the edge of the road.

Because of the icy and snow covered conditions, as she attempted to get back on the road, she slid across the centerline and hit the Silverado head on.

The 63-year-old driver over the Silverado, and his 58-year-old passenger, had to be extricated from the truck by the Coon Valley Fire Department. The Soldiers Grove couple was treated then taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The two women — the other a 27-year-old from Green Bay — in the Traverse were able to get out of their SUV. They were treated for minor injuries.

All four people were wearing seatbelts.
