A repeat drunk driver from La Crosse is facing his 7th OWI charge, and drug counts, after a weekend traffic stop.

Fifty-three-year-old Angelo Ervin was pulled over by La Crosse police downtown on Saturday night for driving without headlights on.

The officer saw Ervin trying to hide something, and asked for the object.  Ervin gave the officer a bag of marijuana, but after a further search, another bag containing heroin was found.

Ervin’s most recent drunk driving conviction was three years ago.

Judge Scott Horne says Ervin could be sentenced to 18 years in prison if he’s found guilty, and there could be extra punishments, such as having to use an interlock device on his steering wheel.
