Potential for an events center in the fish lab building on the north end of Riverside Park is up for discussion, again, at La Crosse city meetings over the next two weeks.

The city plan commission meets Monday afternoon and will discuss a proposed 10-year lease for the Hatchery, LLC, group, which wants to invest in the building.

Zoning for the project was given the OK by the city council in October, after weeks of debate, which included opposition from people living near the fish lab site, as well as others in favor of the project.

The group talked about its plan on La Crosse Talk PM in mid-October, as well.

Also up for votes is remodeling of city Fire Station No. 1 on Market Street.

The La Crosse Board of Public works will review plans on Monday morning for about $14,000 in additional work for a proposed $431,000 renovation of the firehouse.

The new items would include improvements to shower walls, electrical and plumbing work for washers and dryers.

The fire department is also in the process of putting up new fire stations near Gillette Street and another close to the UW-La Crosse campus.
