COVID-19 cases rising in La Crosse County, three more deaths

The latest COVID-19 data in La Crosse County shows community transmission very high and rising, the health department reported Wednesday.

Cases over the past few weeks have been increasing, as have COVID-19 related deaths.

The county reported three more deaths in its latest numbers.

It is also averaging 62 COVID-19 cases a day the past week. A week ago, that average was 46 cases a day. The week before that, 37 a day.

As for COVID-19 deaths of La Crosse County residents, from March 11 to August 15, there were three total, which brought the county to 94 deaths throughout the pandemic.

A month later, that number was 102. Now, in the past two months, there have been 19 COVID-19 deaths bringing the total to 121 county residents no longer with us.

The county reported three deaths two of the past three weeks — and two deaths the week in between. Those were the only two times the county’s reported three deaths in a week’s time since the health department began posting deaths again on social media back in August.
