An 84-year-old La Crosse woman had non-life-threatening injuries after passing out at the wheel about 3 miles outside Coon Valley, Wis.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office says the woman had a “medical event,” which caused her to pass out.

She was turning right from County P to County PI around 2:30 p.m. Saturday when she passed out.

The woman’s vehicle left the road and entered the ditch, striking a fence. It then traveled across a pasture and into a creek, striking the embankment.

Her daughter, who the woman was following, helped her out of the vehicle.

After being evaluated by Coon Valley first responders, she was taken to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse by Tri-State Ambulance.
