Seniors breakfast set to start Oktoberfest on Thursday

La Crosse’s first Oktoberfest in 2 years officially starts Thursday, and the first event in the morning will be the Seniors Breakfast at the southside festgrounds. 

The breakfast happens from 7 to 9 a.m. in the Heritage Tent. 

WIZM’s Mike Hayes will be broadcasting live from the free breakfast. 

The Mindoro Lions Club will be making the pancakes, and serving sausage, coffee, and juice as well. 

Dr. Rock will perform music during the event. 

The senior breakfast has been an Oktoberfest tradition for many years, and often featured a live broadcast of the former “Lead Balloon Show” hosted by Mike Kearns on WKTY-AM.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
