Rally not warranted for insurrectionists

That’s the great thing about this country. People have freedom of speech, the right to essentially say what they want. That doesn’t mean they should. A protest is planned in the nation’s capitol tomorrow, and it must rank as one of the most misguided protests in the nation’s history. A group called Look Ahead America is planning a rally outside the U.S. Capitol to protest the arrests of those who took part in the January 6 insurrection inside that same building. The group is led by a former Trump campaign operative, who alleges that the hundreds of people arrested on January 6 are somehow political prisoners being persecuted for their political beliefs. They argue those who stormed the capitol were nonviolent and believed they had permission to enter the building. Those arrested were not charged for their political beliefs.  They were arrested because they broke the law. From attacking police to entering Capitol grounds without a permit. They caused more than one million dollars in damage, and stole things from lawmakers offices. They threatened lawmakers with physical harm. Those who broke the law and were arrested don’t need a rally of support. They are certainly not political prisoners. They are simply getting the punishment they deserve.
