La Crosse County is on par to eclipse last year’s overdose deaths.

It’s a stat the Coulee Recovery Center and the Alliance To Heal would like to see slow or stop completely, as the county is already at 23 overdose deaths in 2021, after there were 40 last year.

At noon Tuesday at the Coulee Recovery Center (map), multiple groups will highlight Overdose Awareness Day, hearing from two mothers who have dealt with overdoses.

La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds, Assembly Rep. Jill Billings and County Board Chair Monica Kruse will be speaking.

There will be updates on current legislation and other info from the Alliance To Heal, as well as free NARCAN training and distribution.

Gundersen Health System’s Chris Eberlein and La Crosse Community Educator Pat Corran will do training on NARCAN.

Health Educator Kelsey Stockwell will discuss community efforts and the Overdose Fatality Review Team.

If you cannot get to the Coulee Recovery Center, you can also watch on Zoom here.
