Local nonprofits could win $90,000 in awards from Altra

Six categories and $90,000 in awards for local nonprofits in a new initiative from Altra Federal Credit Union.

A grand prize of $10,000 to the nonprofit that wins as part of Altra’s Best Life Community Awards (BLCA).

Members can nominate nonprofit organizations they’ve supported in the past 12 months in these categories:

• Education (Pre-K through college)
• Cultural enrichment
• Health
• Preserving/restoring the environment
• Human services or strengthening local communities

The Community Choice Award winner, determined by popular vote, gets $10,000, while additional awards, voted by employees, include $5,000 Employees’ Choice and $2,500 for Community Assistance awards.

“We are excited to launch this new initiative that involves our members, employees and communities,” Altra president and CEO Steve Koenen said in a statement. “Not only will we be recognizing our members’ commitment to their community, but also our employees.”

The deadline for nominations is Sept. 13.
