Search for missing Arcadia fire chief leads to his truck; a body found inside

A search for a missing area fire chief has led to the discovery of his truck, in a wooded area near Hayward, and a body was found inside. 

The Trempealeau County sheriff’s office says the truck belonging to Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Chief Jeff Halvorsen was found Sunday afternoon in Sawyer County.

The deceased person has not been identified. 

Halvorsen was reported missing on Friday by the Trempealeau County sheriff’s office. 

He was last seen on Wednesday on security video at a Kwik Trip in Arcadia.  He was driving his Dodge Ram truck, and his cellphone was turned off, so law enforcement was not able to track where he was going. 

Sheriff Brett Semingson said the civil air patrol had joined the search shortly after Halvorsen was reported missing.
