Covid numbers hard to ignore

Still not sure if you should get the Coronavirus vaccine? A new website (https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/vaccine-status.htm) may help you make up your mind. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has unveiled the new website which shows the rates of infection and death among the vaccinated compared to those who have not received the full series of shots. The results are hard to ignore. It is clear that the overwhelming majority of new infections are among those not fully vaccinated. The side-by-side graphs show that those who haven’t gotten their shots are three times more likely to contract Covid-19. They required hospitalization at a rate 2.7 times that of the vaccinated. People who are fully vaccinated also saw a ten-fold reduction in risk of dying from Covid-19 compared to those not fully vaccinated. And we know the new Delta variant, which is driving the current increase in case numbers, is a more powerful virus. With the original strain, an infected person was likely to infect two other people, who were then likely to infect to others, for a total of six cases from one infection. With the Delta variant, an infected person is likely to infect five people, who are then likely to infect 25 others for a total of 30 cases from one infection. If you’ve not yet gotten vaccinated, you may want to check out this new website and realize you have a much better chance of staying healthy just by rolling up your sleeve.
