The La Crescent Fire Department is celebrating 100 years in service on Saturday.
The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. at the department on 1st Street and will go as follows:
- Open house, 1-3 p.m.
- Chicken Q, 3 p.m. – until gone ($10)
- Street dance 7-11 p.m., featuring “Jacked Up”
The department, established in 1920, currently has 27 members, who respond to about 350 calls per year — 70% of which are medical or rescue calls.
This year, however, La Crescent is on record pace with 247 responses already.
The fire department covers both the city and township of La Crescent, Dresbach and Mound Prairie.
