If you want the COVID-19 vaccine, chances are you could get one this week.

Both Mayo Clinic Health System and Weber Health Logistics in La Crosse have open appointments Wednesday-Friday to anyone 16 years old and up. The vaccine is free. You do not need health insurance.

“If someone gets on and they fill out (the) form (Tuesday), they’ll get in, possibly Wednesday or Thursday,” Kevin Tyburski, Weber’s communications coordinator, said.

While Mayo has said they’ve been getting all three versions of the vaccine. Tyburski noted Weber Health has mostly gotten the Pfizer vaccine.

“That seems to be the one that most people are interested in getting,” he said. “We don’t really have a preference.

“From reading CDC documentation, Moderna and Pfizer, if you can get it, get either one. But we’ve been primarily getting Pfizer.”

Mayo on Tuesday stated it is suspending the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, pending an investigation into blood clotting.

The only dilemma for some will be scheduling a second dose for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines two weeks later.
