Minus one COVID-19 death in La Crosse — four more hospitalized

No COVID-19 deaths in area Wisconsin counties Thursday. In fact, La Crosse’s death from Wednesday was transferred out of the county.

There were, however, two deaths in Winona and one in Houston.

It’s the 47th and 48th deaths of Winona County residents — the sixth in the past month but first since Jan. 13.

It’s the 14th death in Houston County — the first since Jan. 2.

In La Crosse, four more county residents were hospitlaized with COVID-19.

There were also 30 new cases Thursday, bringing the daily average over the past week to 38.0. Last week, that average was 55.

There have now been a total of 362 county residents hospitalized with the virus — 43 this month. Last month there were 71. In November, there were 148, which is the most during the pandemic.
