La Crosse man charged with stalking police and making threats

A La Crosse man is being charged with stalking and threatening two members of the city police department. 

Thirty-nine-year-old Joshua Schutte was arrested last week, after allegedly sending many telephone calls and computer messages. 

The messages were sent to a male police investigator and a female officer over a period of weeks. 

Schutte is accused of threatening to hurt the woman officer and members of her family.

During a series of phone messages and texts last October, Schutte allegedly threatened to cause bodily harm to the wife of the investigator. 

His bond has been set at $5000 cash. 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
