Up to 63 COVID-19 deaths of La Crosse County residents.

A death has been reported each of the past four days, and there have been four deaths this month, so far.

December had the most county residents die from the virus at 21. October had the second most at 19, and there were 15 deaths in November.

Of the 60 deaths, 22 have come since Dec. 1. Here are the ages of those county residents who have died:

  • 45 aged 80 and over
  • 11 aged 70-79
  • 6 aged 60-69
  • 1 aged 50-59

One more county resident was also hospitalized for the virus, bringing that total this month to 16.

There were 63 new cases, as well. La Crosse County is now averaging 60 a day the past week. A week ago, that average was 56. This week’s numbers include a day with two cases, because of the holiday. Last week’s numbers include days with 131 cases and negative-1, likely stemming from the Christmas break.

In surrounding counties, Vernon suffered its 36th death — the 16th in the past month. Here’s a look at cases, the average the past week, total and active cases, as well as current hospitalizations in surrounding counties:
