La Crosse adds 156 COVID cases, while Vernon, Monroe report more deaths

Another 156 COVID-19 cases Friday in La Crosse County, while Vernon and Monroe counties suffered deaths from the virus and Jackson County added 126 new cases.

There was also one more county resident hospitalized out of La Crosse, bringing that total to 264 — 124 of those since Nov. 1.

The county is now averaging 111.7 cases a day the past week. A week ago, the average was 105, which included one day with 206 cases.

The positivity rate in La Crosse the past seven days is 30.5%.

For Vernon County, it’s the 20th death overall — the eighth death in eight days, 10th death in the past 12 days and 17th since Nov. 9.

For Monroe, it’s the 19th death overall — the fifth death in the past five days, and ninth since Nov. 3.

As for Jackson County’s 126 new cases, the health department there said, “numbers partly reflect testing performed by the Department of Corrections.”


Here’s a look at cases/hospitalizations in surrounding counties:
VERNON: 14 new cases (19.3 cases/day past week – 1,228 total – 232 active – 13 hospitalized)
TREMPEALEAU: 47 new cases (38.4 cases/day past week – 2,554 total – 557 active – 21 hospitalized)
MONROE: 45 new cases (46.4 cases/day past week – 2,843 total – 358 active – 11 hospitalized)
JACKSON: 126 new cases (39.0 cases/day past week – 1,919 total – 308 active – 9 hospitalized)
WINONA: 27 new cases (47.3 cases/day past week – 3,006 total)
HOUSTON: 13 new cases (24.3 cases/day past week – 813 total)

Minnesota: 338,973 cases, 17,828 hospitalizations, 3,845 deaths
Iowa: 241,533 cases, 2,665 deaths

Statewide, Wisconsin added another 4,847 cases, 202 hospitalizations and 63 deaths.

Minnesota added 5,371 cases, 205 hospitalizations and 61 deaths.

Iowa added 2,810 cases, 138 hospitalizations and 62 deaths.
