The recommended sentencing from the La Crosse County District Attorney’s office is 15 years in prison for Allen Kruk, who shot La Crosse Police Officer Dustin Darling back in August of 2019.

Kruk pleaded no contest last August, before Judge Ramona Gonzalez, admitting that he was trying to kill Darling — who likely survived because he was wearing a bulletproof vest — during a confrontation outside Kruk’s ex-wife’s home.

La Crosse police released the bodycam footage from the shooting, which can be seen here.

Darling did return fire and Kruk was hospitalized from being shot.

Other charges against Kruk in La Crosse and Monroe counties were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

The maximum Kruk could get in the case is 65 years behind bars.

The hearing can be seen here.
