Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers announced $10 million in COVID-19 money for movie theaters throughout the state.

The funding was part of the COVID-19 Theater Grant Program.

One theater in La Crosse will directly receive funding, while the other is part of a statewide — and multi-state — theater system.

The Rivoli Theater, downtown, was awarded $43,859.65. The Rivoli is temporarily closed.

Meanwhile, the Marcus Cinema on the southside is part of Marcus Cinemas of Wisconsin, which received $4,020,467.84.

There are 24 Marcus Cinemas in Wisconsin, according to the website.

If that money were simply distributed evenly to each theater — there was no indication it would be — each theater would receive $167,519.49.

“Movie theaters employ thousands of individuals throughout the state,” said DOA Secretary Joel Brennan. “We hope this funding will provide some relief to these institutions in communities large and small so that they can continue to provide Wisconsinites with employment and family memories in the years to come.”

Here’s the entire list of theaters that received money.
