Two choking suspects charged in La Crosse area abuse cases

Two suspects accused of strangling women in separate cases were brought to La Crosse County court on Wednesday. 

Yano Gipson of Holmen faces domestic abuse charges of choking his wife during an argument. 

Police say the victim complained about how Gipson’s daughter was cleaning the floor, when the 47-year-old allegedly pulled his wife’s ponytail, then onto a bed where he briefly choked her. 

In La Crosse, William Ives is suspected of choking his girlfriend while they sat in a parked car. 

Ives had taken her phone, and reportedly found messages from men on it, leading him to start choking her.

Police say Ives then took the phone with him into the house, and the victim flagged down a stranger and asked him to call police.
