While the state plays catchup after updating it’s tracking system to deal with COVID-19, the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative dashboard shows La Crosse County with 47 more cases Tuesday.

The dashboard also shows hospitalizations of county residents increased by seven from Monday to a total of 125. Those stats are not related to any backlog by the state, the county health department said.

The average cases a day the past week in La Crosse is now up to 39. That’s the highest it’s been since Oct. 5. It hasn’t been lower than 28 in the past month.

In surrounding counties, Monroe reported four deaths occurred in the past few days — three people in their 80s and one in their 90s. There were also another 22 cases (987 total — 193 active — 5 currently hospitalized).

Vernon added 16 cases (436 total – 104 active – 4 currently hospitalized).

Trempealeau also added 16 cases (905 total – 199 active – 4 currently hospitalized).

Winona added 11 cases (1,199 total – no other info provided).

STATE TOTALS
Wisconsin: 178,482 cases, 9,537 hospitalizations, 1,633 deaths
Minnesota: 125,531 cases, 9,042 hospitalizations, 2,236 deaths
Iowa: 109,211 cases, 1,576 deaths

Statewide, the numbers in Wisconsin appear alarming but are, again, partially due to a backlog.

Wisconsin reports 4,591 cases, 218 hospitalizations and 33 deaths. The cases and hospitalizations would be single-day highs. The state had 34 deaths exactly a week ago, which is the single-day high.

Minnesota added 1,120 cases, a single-day record 126 hospitalizations and seven deaths. The state is averaging 1,557 cases the past week and has gone 13 consecutive days with over 1,100 cases or more a day.

The previous single-day high for newly hospitalized in Minnesota was 102 on May 23.

Iowa data shows another 1,097 cases, 90 more hospitalized and 28 deaths on Tuesday. The 534 patients currently hospitalized (134 in ICU) in the state are at an all-time high.
