UPDATE: Three COVID-19 deaths since Friday, 31 more cases Monday in La Crosse County; Vernon County reports 2nd death

Some more clarification from the La Crosse County Health Department on the new COVID-19 deaths in the county.

Over the weekend there were three county residents reported to have died due to the virus, bringing the total to 13.

It’s the eighth death in the past seven days of county residents and 10th since Sept. 25.

Hospitalizations in the county rose by three to 103 total, since Friday, as well.

There were 31 more COVID-19 cases reported Monday from the state bringing La Crosse County’s total to 3,566. The county is now averaging 32 cases a day the past week, its lowest since it was at 31 cases Sept. 9.

Vernon County reported its second death — a woman in her 60s — due to COVID-19 on Monday, along with 25 more cases since Friday. There are four currently hospitalized and 93 active cases from the 371 total there. The county is averaging over 15 cases per day the past week.

Trempealeau County added 20 cases since Friday — 18 over the weekend, two Monday — bringing its total to 799. Nobody is currently hospitalized.

Monroe County added 32 cases over the weekend and 10 more Monday, bringing its total to 797 with 154 of those still active. There are three residents currently hospitalized.

Winona County had zero new cases. That hasn’t happened since mid-August.

Houston County added three cases since Friday, bringing its total to 163. Nine are active and nobody is currently hospitalized.

Wisconsin: 152,192 cases, 8,454 hospitalizations, 1,474 deaths
Minnesota: 113,439 cases, 8,421 hospitalizations, 2,144 deaths
Iowa: 100,183 cases, 1,471 deaths


Statewide, Wisconsin reports another 1,956 cases, 56 hospitalizations and nine deaths Monday.

It’s the first time in eight days the state was under 2,000 cases and 79 hospitalizations. The state has had six of the 11 highest hospitalizations in the six days, heading into Monday.

In Minnesota, another 1,178 cases, 67 hospitalizations and three deaths. The state has averaged 1,244 cases, and 69 hospitalizations a day the past week.

Iowa added 432 cases, four deaths in a 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. Monday.
