No, “protesters” aren’t here to burn down La Crosse over pastor’s video

A video from a La Crosse pastor going viral has apparently brought out the conspiracy theorists.

The video of Father James Altman, the pastor at St. James the Less Catholic Church on the north side has over 499,000 views on YouTube for its dividing nature.

But, the vans parked at an Onalaska hotel are not protesters organizing to riot.

The hotel put out an email that read in part: “These vans are not filled with ‘protesters’ bused in to La Crosse to ‘burn it down’ over Fr. Altman’s conservative views. The buses are used to transport contractors … This has been verified.”

Talk of the video did appear to force the bishop of the La Crosse Diocese to put out a statement, which can be read here.
