La Crosse County with another 19 cases Wed., while health dept. updates weekly data

Over the past week, La Crosse County has had 176 cases of COVID-19.

That according to the weekly “snapshot” the county’s health department will release each Wednesday afternoon.

The update shows cases in the county now total 1,381 through Aug. 8.

There is a discrepancy between county and state data. The state, through Aug. 9, shows La Crosse County at 1,370 with another 19 cases on Wednesday.

According to the snapshot, over the past week, five people were hospitalized, bringing the total of county residents having to go to the hospital to 57.

There are currently 340 active cases. The positive test rate between Aug. 2-8 was 18.2%.

Statewide, Wisconsin added 857 cases, 55 hospitalizations and 15 deaths. The state had reported no deaths the past three days, which has only happened two other times since the first death was reported March 20.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota there were 282 new cases, including two each in Winona and Houston counties.  Testing in the state is way down. There were also 32 hospitalizations and seven deaths.

Winona had averaged 22.9 cases a day the past 13 days.

The Coulee COVID-19 collaborative website has also been updated.
