La Crosse, Winona averaging over 20 COVID-19 cases a day

After a single-day high 47 COVID-19 cases in La Crosse County on Friday, there were another 26 Saturday and 15 on Sunday, according to state data.

The county now has a total of 1,326 cases, averaging 21 a day the past two weeks.

The county’s health department will not be releasing its weekly update Monday, instead opting to do so Wednesdays in correlation with the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative website update. Numbers like hospitalizations and active cases would be available at that time.

In Winona County, the case count is up to 583, after another 18 cases Saturday and 15 more Sunday. The county has averaged 23.7 cases per day for the past 11 days.

The city of Winona is also suggesting group limits to 10 outdoors and five indoors.

In Trempealeau County, there are now 442 cases, after another five over the weekend.

Iowa: 70,211 cases, 1,167 deaths


Statewide, Wisconsin cases continue to soar. After a single-day high 1,498 Friday, the state added 946 Saturday and 893 Sunday.

The death toll Saturday was 15, countered by zero on Sunday.

In September, Wisconsin has averaged 931.7 cases, 42.2 hospitalizations and 7.6 deaths a day.

In August, those averages were 731 cases, 38.1 hospitalizations and 6.1 deaths a day.

Meanwhile, Minnesota added 924 cases Saturday and 714 cases Sunday with 10 combined deaths and 84 hospitalizations.

In Iowa, after back-to-back days with cases over a thousand, there were 520 on Sunday. The death toll dropped from 19 on Friday, to seven Saturday and two Sunday, as well.
