Back-to-back days with 14 COVID-19 cases in La Crosse County

Back-to-back days with 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County on Wednesday.

There have now been a total of 939 cases, including 41 hospitalizations. As of Wednesday, there were 158 active cases, including five county residents in the hospital.

La Crosse County has averaged 12.5 cases a day in August. July’s average was 11.5. June’s average, which included 11 consecutive days with 20 or more cases, was 13 a day.

No counties, besides La Crosse, in the area reported double-digit cases Wednesday. In fact, that hasn’t happened since July 30, when Trempealeau and Monroe counties had 16 and 12 cases, respectively

Wednesday, Trempealeau added six cases, bringing its total to 359 with 55 active, including two hospitalized.

Winona added one case and is now at 265 total.

Vernon added three cases and now has 67 total with five active but none hospitalized.

Monroe added one case to its now 244 total, 23 of which are still active, including one in the hospital.

Buffalo added one case and is now at 45 with four still active.

Houston County added two cases and is now at 44 with five active but none in the hospital.

Wisconsin: 52,263 cases, 5,125 hospitalizations, 1,011 deaths
Minnesota: 62,303 cases, 5,711 hospitalizations, 1,678 deaths
Iowa: 50,002 cases, 954 deaths


Wisconsin reported 478 cases, 33 hospitalizations and five deaths. The state has been under 800 cases a day four consecutive days, after averaging 969 the four days before that.

The death toll in the state has been in single digits five consecutive days.

Minnesota reported 470 cases, 50 hospitalizations and 12 deaths. It’s the first time there have been double-digit deaths in the state since July 2.

Iowa’s dashboard shows another 482 cases and nine deaths over a 24-hour period. The state does not report daily case data, instead opting for a real-time dashboard.
