After reporting 23 cases over the weekend, La Crosse County confirmed just two cases Monday.

The county health department also put out some other notes, including more information on, what it called, a “reinfection.”

In regards to that, the department posted, “Because COVID-19 is a new virus and we are continually learning about it, this case is being considered a “possible re-infection.” This individual is still counted one time in our case count. We know there has been a lot of interest in this topic, and we will continue to be as transparent as we can when reporting possible reinfections and other data as we can. This case is being evaluated by healthcare partners at this time.”

The person the county is counting twice had tested positive for the virus twice, more than three months apart. Read what a Mayo infection disease specialist said about it here.

Also, the department’s weekly health briefings will be moved to Fridays only. A time has yet to be announced. The county announced last Friday during a briefing it would be replacing the COVID-19 compass, likely this week.
