Wisconsin adds 921 cases, hits 5,000 hospitalizations from COVID-19; Minnesota confirms 806 cases

A day after a record-high confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin, that number was nearly cut in half Sunday.


Area counties do not report data on the weekends.

Wisconsin: 60,554 cases, 5,000 hospitalizations, 997 deaths
Minnesota: 60,898 cases, 5,555 hospitalizations, 806 deaths
Iowa: 48,919 cases, 931 deaths


Confirmed cases Saturday were 1,165. Sunday, it dropped down to 621. Testing also was cut in half that day. There were 11,997 tests Saturday and 6,797 Sunday.

There were also 20 hospitalizations and one death reported Sunday.

Wisconsin has averaged 846 cases, 40 hospitalizations a day in August. In July, it was 783 cases, but hospitalizations were nearly the same (39).

The state says 83 percent of cases have recovered. Of the 60,554 positive cases in the state, exactly 5,000 have been hospitalized at some point.

In Minnesota, there were 806 cases, 49 hospitalizations and nine deaths Sunday. The state hasn’t had double-digit deaths in a day since July 2. It averaged 5.3 deaths a day in July. It’s 6.3 so far in August.

The state has had 60898 positive cases and 5,555 of those have been hospitalized.

Iowa data shows 364 cases and five deaths Sunday.
