Let’s support our local restaurants

We are fortunate in the La Crosse area to have so many wonderful choices in restaurants. But things are tough for those in the restaurant business now. Already operating on thin profit margins, the restaurant industry has been among those hardest hit by the pandemic. Many analysts predict that a number of restaurants, especially chain restaurants, will not survive the current economic downturn. That means job losses and empty buildings. This is the time to show our support for our local restaurants, and help them through this difficult time. You may not feel comfortable yet dining out because of crowds, or the mask order, or social distancing requirements. But many local restaurants have gotten really good at offering delivery options, curbside pickup, or patio dining. They have had to. It has been their only lifeline. Order some take-out, or do like I did last night and dine on the patio of your favorite restaurant. Maybe even plan a weekly take out night, if you can. Or if you are comfortable eating inside, a number of our local restaurants are following the county’s effort to check the spread. They have signed a pledge that they are following all the proper health guidelines like increased sanitation and hand sanitizing dispensers. If you want to make your favorite restaurant keeps its doors open, let’s show them we care, and put our money where our mouth is.
