La Crosse first reinfection, as county adds another 10 COVID-19 cases
A first for La Crosse County when it comes to COVID-19.
The county’s health department announced that, among the 10 new cases of the virus Tuesday, one of those cases was a reinfection.
It’s the first resident that has been counted twice, due to a reinfection, which were more than three months apart.
La Crosse County health director Jen Rombalski will likely talk about this at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday during the public health briefing, which can be seen on the WIZM Facebook page (here).
To date, La Crosse has had 844 cases, 38 hospitalizations. There are currently 144 active cases, including four county residents in the hospital.
In other counties, Trempealeau added nine more cases and is now at 322 with 65 still active.
Monroe added three cases for a total of 228 with 51 still active, including two hospitalized.
Winona added two more cases and is now at 249.
Buffalo added one case to its now 42 total with 11 still active.
Vernon added one case and is at 59 total with six still active.

Wisconsin: 56,056 cases, 4,783 hospitalized, 961 deaths
Minnesota: 57,162 cases, 5,346 hospitalized, 1,620 deaths
Iowa: 46,238 cases, 893 deaths
Statewide, Wisconsin added another 728 cases, 51 hospitalizations and 12 deaths. The state has suffered 42 deaths in the past five days.
Wisconsin has averaged 5.1 deaths since July 1, but that rate has jumped to to 7.9 a day the past two weeks.
Minnesota confirmed another 606 cases, along with 48 hospitalizations and four deaths. Minnesota hasn’t had double-digit deaths in a day since July 2.
The state has averaged 5.3 deaths a day since July 1.
Iowa added 181 cases, seven deaths in a 24-hour period that began at 10 a.m. Monday.
