La Crosse County adds nine COVID-19 cases, four known to be hospitalized; Wisconsin sees largest daily count

Nine confirmed cases Thursday of COVID-19 in La Crosse County.

Four are known to be hospitalized — up one from the day before, but it’s not known of the same three hospitalized Wednesday, are part of the four hospitalized Thursday.

So far, 545 total cases in the county with 185 still active. Since June 16, when the county got its first of 11 consecutive 20-or-more-case days, La Crosse has had 417 cases.

The county will have a free testing site from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday at Logan High School for anyone experiencing at least one symptom and older than 5 years of age.

After back-to-back days totaling 25 cases, Trempealeau County added five on Thursday and is now at 174 total with 53 considered active.

Buffalo County added one case (11 total), Winona County added two (133) and Houston County added one (29). Vernon County remains at 39 cases.

Statewide, Wisconsin added 754 cases — the most in a single day — 43 new hospitalizations and two deaths. The next highest total of new cases reported in a single day was 738 on July 4.

Deaths in the state have been at single digits for 12 consecutive days and 18 of the past 19 days.

Minnesota reports 589 cases, 22 new hospitalizations and five deaths. The state has had single-digit daily deaths for six consecutive days and eight of the past nine. There are currently 251 hospitalized, including 116 in the ICU.

Iowa shows 669 new cases and seven deaths in a 24-hour period that began at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Iowa does not report daily stats, instead showing data in real-time online.

Iowa shows 169 currently hospitalized, including 54 in the ICU — 19 have been admitted in the past 24 hours (7 p.m.).
