Embrace the mask

Is it time to embrace the mask? Few things have been as controversial throughout this pandemic as wearing masks. Whether a person is wearing a mask is seen by some as a political statement. But it is hard to fault someone who is thoughtful enough of other’s safety to put something over their nose and mouth when they are around other people. And it seems we are seeing a shift on the issue. A growing number of Republicans are shifting their stance and now recommending people, even President Trump, wear a mask. Some states and cities are issuing orders requiring the wearing of a mask in public. The spike in cases is driving that message. And according to surveys, more and more people are wearing them in public.  Perhaps it is time to embrace the mask. Use it not as a political statement, but a fashion statement. Maybe one for each day of the week. A mask doesn’t have to be a symbol of anything, except perhaps your concern for your fellow men and women.
