La Crosse County sets single-day high with 21 new COVID-19 cases

Another single-day high for COVID-19 cases in La Crosse County.

There were 21 new cases reported in the county, which has now set the single-day high twice in the past seven days — 15 was the previous high. The total case count is up to 153 with 65 considered recovered and nobody currently hospitalized.

La Crosse has had 98 of those 153 cases in June, including 77 the past eight days, where it has seen its highest single-day counts (21, 15, 10, 8 and 7 cases) since the pandemic began.

The county reported today’s positive test percentage was 51 percent. Overall, it’s risen to 1.9 percent.

The city of La Crosse also announced that both Pettibone and Black River beaches will be closed as a precaution due to the rise in cases.

Monday, the county put out a list of businesses and a beach, where hotspots of the virus may have occurred back on June 5-7.

Vernon County added four new cases and is at 28 total with 22 considered recovered and nobody hospitalized.

Trempealeau County added five new cases Monday and another seven on Tuesday, which is the second-most cases in a single day there. Trempealeau has had 73 total cases now with 39 considered recovered.

Winona County did add one more case, putting it at 85 total.

No other surrounding counties reported new cases.

Wisconsin: 23,198 cases, 703 deaths
Minnesota: 30,882 cases, 1,313 deaths
Iowa: 24,179 cases, 669 deaths

Statewide, Wisconsin reported another 266 cases and nine deaths. There have been single-digit death totals in the state five days in a row.

Minnesota reported 197 new cases and nine deaths.The state has now had single-digit deaths three of the past four days. Minnesota hasn’t had back-to-back days in the single digits since April 15-16.

Iowa reported nine deaths and 120 cases in a 24-hour period beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.
