La Crosse reports three new cases, Trempealeau, Winona add another; WI, MN death tolls trend down

After three consecutive days without a case of COVID-19, La Crosse County reported three new cases of the virus Monday.

That brings the total up to 51. The county’s health department says two are men in their 30s and 50s, while the other is a woman in her 60s. Currently, nobody from the county is hospitalized.

According to the state health department, Trempealeau County added another case Monday, after five were reported Sunday. Its total now is 20.

Winona County also added another case and is at 78. Allamakee County, in the northeast corner of Iowa, has 118 cases. Vernon and Houston counties reported no new cases.

Statewide, Wisconsin reported another 307 cases and four deaths. The state has had single-digit deaths in four of the past five days and eight of the past 10.

Minnesota reported another 742 cases and 12 deaths. It’s the third consecutive day under 20 deaths, after seeing back-to-back single-day highs in deaths late last week (32, 33).

Iowa reports its stats in real time. In the 24-hour period Monday, the state reported 231 cases and five deaths. It was the first single-digit death toll in a day since in a week. It was also the lowest case count since May 9.

Worldwide, there are nearly 5.5 million cases and more than 346,300 deaths from the virus. Here’s a look at the countries with the most cases and deaths worldwide.
