Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa set daily highs for cases; deaths in MN also highest in single day
All three states set highs in confirmed cases — Wisconsin and Minnesota, multiple days in a row — while Minnesota also tied its most deaths in a day at 28.
No new cases were reported in La Crosse County or Winona County. La Crosse remains at 29, while Winona has 66, including 15 deaths.
Totals in Wisconsin: 7,314 cases, 327 deaths.
Totals in Minnesota: 5,730 cases, 371 deaths.
Totals in Iowa: 7,844 cases, 170 deaths.
Statewide, Wisconsin reported another 11 deaths and beat Thursday’s single-day high with 460 confirmed cases on Friday. The previous high was 334.
In 14 of the past 15 days now, Minnesota has seen double-digit deaths, including six days in the 20s now. Before that, the state had just one day with double-digit deaths.
For the fourth-consecutive day, Minnesota has confirmed more cases in a single day. Friday, the new high was set at 594.
The states can attribute the confirmed case increase, partially, to increased testing. Along with cases and deaths, Minnesota also set a daily high for tests from state and private labs at 4,553.
Wisconsin, the past 10 days has been testing an average of 2,741 people. From April 1-21, it was testing an average of 1,606.
Meanwhile, Iowa reports that one in 69 people there have been tested for COVID-19.
The state confirmed the most cases of the three states by a wide margin at 699. Its previous high was 647 on April 25. Iowa confirmed another eight deaths, as well.
