The ‘Moon Tunes’ season is starting a little early in La Crosse this year, but not at Riverside Park.

The series of summer concerts is still planned for 2020, despite the coronavirus, but a group of ‘virtual’ concerts will happen on Facebook, starting Thursday night.

Moon Tunes organizer Terry Bauer says Piggy’s restaurant will sell sandwiches and salad in its parking lot this Thursday night between 5 and 7, while musician Andy Hughes of the band TUGG performs on-line.

Other performers will do similar Facebook shows every Thursday through May 21st.

Some proceeds from the Piggy’s drive-up sales will help musicians and local restaurants which have lost revenue from the coronavirus shutdowns.

The organizers of Moon Tunes hope to have as many summer concerts as possible at the Riverside Park bandshell on Thursday nights, from early June to Labor Day.
