High school student dies in Trempealeau County collision

An 18-year-old student from Altoona High School was killed Friday morning in a Trempealeau County accident. 

Amya Meyer was driving on Highway 93 near Arcadia, Wis., when her car crossed the center line of the highway and collided with a shuttle bus. 

An Eau Claire, Wis., driver and three passengers from La Crosse were aboard the bus. 

The driver and one male passenger were transported to a La Crosse hospital. 

There have now been four traffic deaths in Trempealeau County this year, making it the highest yearly traffic toll in the county since eight people died in 2015. 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
