A day after that monologue, Evers, on Friday, called on the Republican-led legislature to convene in a special session Saturday to allow the election to be held by mail. Republicans say the election should continue as planned. Alaska, Wyoming, Hawaii and Louisiana were scheduled to vote Saturday. They pushed those contests back.

Thursday, La Crosse made the decision to cut its polling places for Tuesday’s vote from 13 to eight. Friday, Milwaukee cut its polling places to just five.
