Cellphones, candy bars and C-notes targeted by local thieves

A north La Crosse man told city police that he was confronted by robbers at his home this weekend. 

The man claimed that somebody kicked in his door and pointed a gun at him, and stole two cellphones, early Saturday morning

Later on, the victim said somebody came to his Caledonia Street home wanting money, because he had posted a picture of himself on Facebook holding several $100 bills, which were actually fakes. 

Police reported that at least one of the phony bills had some Asian symbols printed on it. 

No arrests have been reported.    


On Valentine’s Day, somebody with a sweet tooth went shopping at Kwik Trip, but it turned out to be shoplifting. 

At the Rose Street Kwik Trip, a customer in a black ski mask and black jacket allegedly stole three candy bars and a container of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, and rode off on a bicycle. 

The candy bars were a Snickers ice cream bar, a Kit Kat, and a Reese’s bar.

The value of the stolen food was about $12.
