Mabel teenager dies in January 1st collision

A 17-year-old from Mabel has been killed in a New Year’s Day highway crash in that town. 

He’s been identified as Dylan Delaney, one of three people in a car that collided with a semi carrying cattle, at an intersection on Highway 44. 

The others in the car, driver Lauren Bedard of Houston and another male passenger, were taken to Gundersen in La Crosse for treatment. 

Bedard’s car was in the act of making a left turn just after 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, when it collided with the semi driven by a Rushford man.

The semi, containing about three dozen cows, rolled onto its side.

At least one cow died in the crash.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
